The Clue
In Edinburgh’s ancient, mist-kissed town,
A traveler sought a cozy, quiet ground.
A grand hotel, its doors stood wide,
A haven of comfort, where she could abide.
As night fell deep, a chill wind blew,
A ghostly whisper, he faintly knew.
A tale of Midas, a king of gold,
Whose touch turned all to treasure,
so he was told.
In this very room, legend said,
A golden touch had once been spread.
But greed and folly, a fatal flaw,
Had turned his kingdom to a golden maw.
The traveler shivered, a cold sweat broke,
A strange sensation, his body shook.
He felt a touch, a golden gleam,
As if a dream, or a waking scene.
A golden glint upon his hand,
A Midas touch, across the land.
He looked around, in fear and dread,
A golden toilet seat, a golden bed.
A golden showerhead, a golden tub,
A golden mess, a golden hubbub.
He screamed in horror, a golden cry,
As golden poo filled up his eye.
